In the picture above, you can see the only section of my wardrobe that doesn’t spill its contents when I open it. Honestly, I feel like a bit of a hoarder. I just found some body lotion from 1997 and a bra from a 2001 Harrods sale for £4—and it doesn’t even fit! I’ve gotten better at being mindful with my purchases over the years (though we can forget about those recent glittery Jimmy Choo pumps and the little Burberry find, and not to mention the Herve Leger dress I’ve worn just once). Still, letting go of things is tough, and my wardrobe is bursting at the seams. I often take bags of clothes to charity or pass them on to friends (and their daughters, which makes me feel quite old!), and I occasionally do an eBay clear-out. Yet, there are certain pieces that are just too special to part with easily. Like a Vivienne Westwood corset that I earned instead of being paid in cash back when I worked for her years ago. There are also Ghost dresses from similar situations, a stunning Jenny Packham dress (another non-cash payment item, noticing a pattern?), plus a stash of dresses, tops, and unworn lingerie.
So what’s my plan for these cherished items? I’ll be selling them at a fantastic live event organized by Buy My Wardrobe! While they usually operate online, they occasionally host live events, and I’ll be attending one. Like a traveling vendor, I’ll be taking my goodies to Kensington Roof Gardens on Saturday, 27th April, looking forward to a day of chatting and likely admiring everyone else’s fashion finds. Who knows, maybe we can even swap items? Must remember to ask! Anyway, there will be loads of fabulous items for sale, not just from me, so it promises to be a fun day. Tickets are £5 for standard entry at 1pm, but for £20, there’s a VIP option that includes early entry at 12pm, plus champagne and a goody bag.
I’m also giving away two VIP tickets to one lucky reader! I thought it would make the perfect girls’ day out for two friends, so I’m giving them as a pair. Kensington has plenty to offer, so you could enjoy brunch, then explore people’s wardrobes, and maybe head to a bar afterward!
