I haven’t reviewed a tinted moisturizer for a while, so let’s dive into this luxurious one: the Code8 Radiate Beauty Balm. Although not labeled as a tinted moisturizer, that’s what it essentially is, providing light to medium coverage with a hydrating base. The name “Beauty Balm” might be a nod to the BB cream trend, although that fad seems to have faded, leaving us with more descriptive product names.
Describing foundation types can be a bit frustrating. From full coverage bases to lighter tinted moisturizers and BB/CC creams, the primary goal is coverage, yet there are countless names for what is essentially similar products. I’ve seen “foundations” with less coverage than “complexion enhancers” and CC creams with more coverage than Estee Lauder’s Double Wear. It’s a bit of a puzzle.
I’d describe Code8’s Radiate as a tinted moisturizer enhanced with argan seed oil for antioxidant benefits and SPF15 for sun protection. You might not layer it thickly enough for full UV protection, but for light sun exposure, it’s a plus.
As I compare the Code8 Radiate to other tinted moisturizers, it stands out as creamy and long-lasting. I’ve worn it throughout the summer, and it feels comfortable and velvety on the skin without being greasy. It offers a balanced, natural finish perfect for a low-key base.
This product is easy to use; just dab it on and blend with your fingers. It’s not like those high-maintenance foundations that need sponges and brushes. The coverage is surprisingly good for something with such a fresh, natural finish.

You’ll see in the photos how it evens out the skin tone nicely. It’s not going to make you look ready for a red carpet close-up, but it provides “real skin” coverage without masking all your features.
When you zoom in, there’s a nice glow and warmth, with enough coverage to even out redness and minor blemishes while still keeping the skin looking vibrant. It’s amazing how this Beauty Balm/tinted moisturizer/sheer foundation gives a polished, even-toned finish.
I use shade W20, which has a warm undertone. Once blended, it gives a lovely, sun-kissed glow. In winter, I might choose a more neutral shade since W20 looks very orange initially, but it blends in seamlessly.
Code8 is a relatively new brand focusing on high-performance formulas. I noticed they now have a high-coverage foundation, which wasn’t there when I visited their pop-up store last year. I’ll test it out soon, and if it’s as good as the Radiate Beauty Balm, a review will surely follow!
The Radiate Beauty Balm is available for £38, making it a bit pricier than some alternatives but with more coverage. For an extra bit of coverage and glow, Clinique’s Even Better Glow is another great option, though those with very oily skin might find it a bit shiny.
