THE BEAUTY IS IN THE (GOLDEN) FINESSE…

I’ve received so many compliments on this photo—it was meant for my lookbook, but the pale beige bag with its soft gold details caught quite a few eyes! I love gold on my skin; it feels warm and elegant. In my twenties, I leaned towards cooler tones, which is why I chose a platinum wedding and engagement ring. However, as I moved into my thirties, I started appreciating gold more, almost like a magpie drawn to shiny things.

The Yves Saint Laurent bag was a Christmas gift from Mr. AMR, who has a knack for picking out great bags. Throughout our fifteen-year relationship, he’s given me some fantastic ones. Each one has been a classic, and I still use two of them regularly. Some others are “vintage” Mulberry bags from back when they used thick, heavy leather and offered only a few basic colors like black, light brown, and dark brown. Those bags gave me quite a workout when I was carrying all my essentials around London!

Speaking of the YSL Monogram bag, it’s a beautiful pale beige color, although I’m worried it might get dirty after a few uses. I’m considering wrapping it in cling film like they do at the airport with suitcases. I love this version of the Monogram with its gold detailing, especially since I prefer gold chains and accents on bags over silver. It matches perfectly with the pale beige leather. I’m not sure if this exact bag is still available, but feel free to correct me if I’m wrong. I’ve been searching for ages!

The shoes are from LK Bennett, and they’ve been dubbed my “Wonder Woman Shoes” by an Instagram follower. They have a great heel height, and the ankle-fastening style doesn’t make legs look shorter, which can sometimes be an issue with ankle straps.

My ring is from Bvlgari, and it holds a special story. Mr. AMR found it in Hatton Gardens, a place in East London known for its jewelry shops. I plan to make a video about it because it’s quite unique. The ring is a “knitted” yellow gold band with tiny diamonds. It’s possibly my favorite piece, but since my fingers have slimmed down, it’s become a bit loose. I’m worried about losing it, so I rarely wear it. I need to take it to a specialist to see if it can be resized.

That’s the story of my golden accessories. I’ve also been browsing online for similar items if you’re interested. I might even bring back my Weekly Window Shop feature. What do you think?
