A Wonderland of Beauty: A Visual Delight

A Wonderland of Beauty: A Visual Delight

I’ve developed a real love for beauty products that look like they belong in an Alice in Wonderland movie. I’m all about those vintage-style perfume bottles, quirky jars, and elegant tins—anything that would look perfect on my dream dressing table. Imagine a glass-topped table with ornate legs sitting in front of a big Georgian window. I think this fascination is a way of rebelling against the minimalist style I’ve lived with for so many years.

This interest in whimsical items grew when I got my hands on Roger & Gallet’s new Extrait de Cologne. It comes in a giant 500ml bottle, making it the centerpiece of my collection. I love the design with its stopper and wax seal-like label. My favorite scent in this series is Neroli Facetie, with its uplifting blend of orange flower, neroli, ylang-ylang, and vetiver. As a light cologne, it’s intended to be applied generously, which is just as well since you have to pour it out. Although it’s £149 for the bottle, it’s actually a bargain considering the price per milliliter compared to smaller sizes.

The theme continues with a candle called Sir Hoppingsworth from Ashleigh & Burwood, smelling like an old country house with hints of leather and wood. Its outside design complements my Wonderland theme perfectly. Once the candle is done, I plan to use the jar for storage—perhaps for all those hairbands I keep misplacing.

In the realm of Paul & Joe beauty, their packaging is always a standout. Their eye makeup remover, for instance, comes in a bottle that’s fit for a fine fragrance, and their golden glittery primer looks beautiful, although I find it a bit drying. You can explore their unique range online, and their products make fantastic gifts.

Next, there’s Atkinsons’ Rose in Wonderland perfume, aptly named with its rose-based scent mixed with geranium, blackcurrant, and a warm, powdery base. It avoids the “old lady” vibe and instead feels fresh and modern.

I’ve reached the candy-coated side of my Wonderland journey with picks like the REN Moroccan Rose Otto gift set, featuring a limited edition design by Silken Favours that’s incredibly collectible. I love the Pepto Bismol pinks, and the set includes one of my favorite shower products, the Rose Otto body wash.

Tiny tins filled with delightful MOR soaps are another favorite. With packaging that resembles fine chocolates, these soaps are a luxurious addition to any stocking.

Part of my Wonderland collection is Jo Malone’s Green Almond & Redcurrant Cologne, released for Christmas 2017. Its bottle is a standout with a matte pink design, and the scent is warm, woody, and slightly fruity—perfect for those who love Pomegranate Noir.

For true candle lovers, there’s Fornasetti’s Giardino Segreto, an artistic piece that evokes the feel of a fresh, lively garden with bergamot and thyme. It’s a bit of a splurge but definitely wishlist-worthy.

Lastly, the Lookfantastic beauty calendar deserves mention as it sparked my Wonderland fixation. It’s beautifully designed with artwork and carefully selected beauty treats inside. It’s a great gift idea and offers stylish storage once the treats are gone.
