I’ve been spending a worrying amount of time browsing through Gucci’s website, getting lost among their scarves, headbands, belts, costume jewelry, and shoes. Normally, I wouldn’t tempt myself this way, but Gucci has somehow taken over every part of my online and offline life. They’ve perfectly captured what I want from fashion—fun, a touch of retro cool, and a lot of practicality, though only in my dream world!
Gucci seems to be everywhere, impossible to avoid, subtly influencing me with their oversized double-G buckles and gigantic sunglasses. It seems like everywhere I look, there’s a stylish bee-decorated bag, a signature striped belt holding in a summer dress, or a gorgeous silk scarf wrapped around someone impossibly chic.
I crave it all, and it looks like I’m not the only one feeling this way. Have you noticed the Gucci influence on the high street? Let’s call it “Guccification.” It began with sporty striped belts and countless imitations of their iconic t-shirt, spread to fabric prints with oversized florals on clothes, and then moved to the shoe department with bold decorations on classic white trainers and a renewed love for loafers.
I’ve searched online for my favorite Gucci-inspired items—a way to capture the look on a budget. However, I should mention yesterday’s splurge. Yes, I bought something directly from Gucci: a belt. My partner laughed at my term “investment,” but he’ll be proven wrong when it’s worth double in sixty years. Sadly, by then, neither of us will care, but still. I chose brown to match my blue denim, and I opted for the wider version to wear it as both a waist belt and with high-waisted jeans.
Kurt Geiger’s LAX Trainers, priced at £139, exude Gucci more than Gucci itself with their red and white stripe and gold studs on a classic design. They also offer the Ludo style with quilted leather and a bold embellishment at the back.
If you’ve caught the buzz for bee-themed jewelry (apologies), check out Will Bishop’s chunky, detailed pendants available through Not on the High Street for £90. They come in silver or gold and make a strong statement.
Adidas World Pack Slides in Italia for £39.95 offer customizable options, allowing you to choose exactly what you like. The “Italia” edition is perfectly on point with a Gucci-esque vibe.
There’s also a £15 “Je t’aime” t-shirt from Missguided, one of many inspired by Gucci’s iconic logo shirt. You can’t go wrong at that price!
Zara offers an oversized floral printed bomber jacket for £49.99, which is stunning. I like the idea of wearing it over a bright summer maxi dress for a daring pattern combination, though I admit I’m a bit hesitant—it’s more my sister’s style with her artistic touch. I’m more inclined to wear it simply with jeans. Yawn.
These are my favorite Gucci-inspired finds on the high street, but what about the genuine Gucci items on my wishlist?
There’s a £300 bee ring with a vintage gold finish from Gucci that’s simple yet stylish, perfect with my lion’s head ring. A Blooms Print Silk Headband for £235 gives the illusion of a skillfully tied silk scarf with the convenience of elastic. I want it, but I need to wait a bit after my recent spending spree. There are also £190 acetate sunglasses from Gucci that are just wild—huge and colorful, definitely 80s-inspired. They’d be perfect for a photoshoot with vibrant pink lipstick and those blue shades!
