Today, while getting ready to shoot a video for a new foundation review, I stumbled upon a small box neatly tucked away in my office. My curiosity piqued, I opened it to find a collection of beauty products, all featuring retinol as a key ingredient.
Before my house move to Bath, I tried organizing my beauty products into categories to help with future blog posts and testing plans. Unfortunately, most of these categories made little sense later on. However, this box of retinol products jogged my memory because I’ve always been interested in retinol, though I didn’t dive into testing as thoroughly as I’d hoped last year. Although I was enthusiastic about the benefits of retinol, breastfeeding and other concerns held me back from using it consistently.
The minimal testing I did left me pleasantly surprised, so I’ve decided it’s time to commit to using these retinol products. Although I don’t have major skin concerns like deep wrinkles or significant sun damage, I’ve noticed changes in my skin’s texture and fine lines around my eyes and forehead.
For those unfamiliar, retinol is a vitamin A derivative known for boosting cell turnover and collagen production, which leads to smoother, clearer skin. It addresses issues ranging from fine lines to acne scars.
In the past, retinol seemed intimidating due to potential side effects from strong prescription creams like redness and irritation. These concerns, along with myths about retinol’s risks and complexity, made me hesitant. But after trying several products, I’ve had great results. My top three are Anne Semonin’s Miracle Eye Cream, This Works Night Repair Serum, and Alpha-H’s Beauty Sleep Power Peel, each offering impressive improvements in my skin’s appearance.
I’ll share detailed posts on these products soon since they’ve impressed me greatly. In the meantime, I’ll continue testing and updating you with my experiences. Though I feel late in starting my retinol journey, I’m glad I waited. With my current lifestyle, my skin definitely needs the extra care.
