A Stylish Ensemble for Sunday’s Dog Walk

A Stylish Ensemble for Sunday's Dog Walk

Spring has definitely arrived. The days of unexpected snow and howling winds are behind us, so I’m packing up my winter coats to take them to the dry cleaners. I’ve discovered that the key to preserving a coat is getting it dry cleaned at the end of each winter, then storing it in a breathable cotton garment cover with a moth repellent sachet inside. My Jil Sander coat, now in its tenth year, still looks brand new, even after so much wear. Although dry cleaning might seem like an unnecessary expense, it’s well worth it to extend the life of a good coat.

On Sunday, I took the dog for a walk around Marylebone and spent some time with my brother and his girlfriend before they caught their train home. Later, I had a red carpet event at the Empire Film Awards, so I wanted to dress comfortably and casually for a relaxing day beforehand. I chose my new cargo skirt from Hush, which is a fantastic find! Made from light grey cotton, it has the durability of denim but feels much softer and has more stretch, especially around the waistband—perfect after a big Sunday pub lunch! I wear a size 10, and you can find the skirt at Hush.

To complement the casual look, I paired the skirt with a pair of bright, funky Supra trainers. These pink-and-white polka dot Vaiders are like walking with airbags around your feet—super comfy. They are on loan for a photoshoot, but I’m seriously considering buying them. While I love my Converse, the comfort level of these Supras is unbeatable.

A surprising success this winter has been my M&S coat. If you recall the tweedy biker jacket from last autumn, it turned out to be the unexpected wardrobe standout. It stayed hidden in the coat cupboard when it was cold, but popped out on sunny days as a lighter option over jeans or skirts. It’s been so handy that I’m eyeing another M&S coat. This one is a casual, relaxed-fit “car coat,” slightly shorter and looser. You can take a look and let me know what you think—I might just be losing my mind.

By the way, I always feel awkward in sunglasses, but I’m trying to wear them more. After turning 30, those squinty wrinkles have become a more noticeable concern!
