CREATING THE LATEST STYLES FOR THE NEW SEASON

CREATING THE LATEST STYLES FOR THE NEW SEASON

I’ve spent the last week at London Fashion Week, checking out the shows and reporting on them for Triumph Lingerie, which supplied the lingerie for the catwalks. My focus was on the upcoming season’s shapes and silhouettes, and I wanted to share a summary of my favorite collections with you. Instead of detailing every single show, here’s a roundup of the highlights.

A fun fact for fellow lingerie enthusiasts: Triumph provided an impressive array of lingerie, including 98 Body Makeup Bras, 365 Body Make-Up G-Strings, 85 briefs, and 30 Light Sensation skirts in nude hues. These pieces, especially the t-shirt bras, looked fantastic, offering a natural shape under clothing with a subtle lift—pretty much my ideal bra.

Working with Triumph this time gave me a unique perspective, as I was particularly focused on how designers used lingerie to enhance shapes or provide seamless support. Normally, I pay more attention to colors and textures, but the focus on silhouettes was quite enjoyable. I particularly enjoyed the shows that celebrated curves, moving away from the super-skinny look. It was a joy to see models with real curves strut down the runway—especially at Emilio de la Morena, where a model flaunted a striking sideboob look. Nipped-in waists were also trending, perfect for showcasing an hourglass figure. Personally, I think I’m ready to embrace this style too, moving away from low-rise jeans, which aren’t as forgiving.

Here are my favorite shapes for the new season:

1) Nipped-in Waist: This was a popular look throughout the shows and something I want to try myself. Seen at designers like Giles Deacon and Matthew Williamson, this shape can be achieved with a shapewear skirt for a smooth line over the hips and waist. Avoid tight-fitting underwear that might disrupt the sleek look.

2) Low-Cut V-Neck: This was evident at the Issa show. Issa is known for deep V dresses, which require some skill to pull off without a vest underneath. These dresses are luxuriously draped, maintaining a sexy yet classy look. For a similar vibe, try a sheer vest for coverage and support.

3) Bosomy Goth-Bride: Seen at Giles Deacon, this look highlights the bust, making a good bra crucial. Triumph’s Body Make Up bras were perfect for this; invisible under clothes yet providing a flattering shape. Depending on your bust size, choose between padded or non-padded options. Achieving this dramatic look is quite straightforward with the right lingerie.

4) Nothing to Hide Panels: Sheer, barely-there panels on dresses and tops were another trend. Julien MacDonald’s show featured daring designs, but this trend will likely be adapted to more wearable versions, like sheer sleeves and blouses for the party season. Nude lingerie is best for these outfits to maintain a discreet look.

5) Absolutely Naked: This daring look skips lingerie entirely and requires confidence and a bold attitude to pull off. You’d pair it with shimmering body cream and sky-high heels. Admittedly, it seems an odd choice for the colder months, as staying warm would be quite a challenge!

You can find all the lingerie mentioned online or through select stockists. This summary is part of my ongoing collaboration with Triumph Lingerie during London Fashion Week.
