Sainsbury’s has always been a bit ahead of the curve when it comes to supermarket beauty shopping, offering great, affordable brands like Super Facialist, Burt’s Bees, and Nip + Fab. Now, they’ve taken it up a notch with their new beauty aisles. Around 200 superstores feature this new setup, introducing 1,400 new products. The range of brands is what you’d expect from a dedicated beauty store rather than a supermarket, including items like soothing face creams from Weleda, high-powered body smoothers from Ameliorate, and luxurious balm cleansers and serums from Balance Me.
To highlight these amazing new beauty aisles, I’ve put together three skincare routines using some of my favorite brands and products that you can now find in-store. Many locations also have beauty advisors to guide and help you out, along with exclusive brands like Sanctuary Spa, My Skin Matters, and Boutique.
Routine for Dull Skin
The first routine is for dull skin, a common issue as we head into winter. Without the sun-kissed glow of summer and with indoor heating, skin can look lackluster. Here are three products to help bring back that radiance, all of which can easily fit into your existing regimen. Think of these as individual tweaks rather than a strict three-step routine since they might not be used all at once.
Start with the Super Facialist Vit C+ Brighten Skin Renew Cleansing Oil. This is a perfect cleanser for colder weather. Even if you have oily skin, it rinses off completely clean while effectively removing makeup, sunscreen, and daily grime. Plus, its uplifting orange scent is a delight.
Next, divide your routine into day and night steps. In the morning, I use the Super Facialist Vitamin C Booster, either before or mixed with moisturizer and sunscreen. You could use it day and night since Vitamin C is excellent for brightening and evening out skin tone, in addition to providing antioxidant protection.
For nighttime, I prefer using acid peels like AHAs. The Nip + Fab Glycolic Fix Liquid Glow, which contains 2% glycolic acid, is great for gentle exfoliation. It helps remove dead skin cells to reveal brighter skin. Personally, I use it two to three times a week, but it depends on how your skin reacts to exfoliation.
Routine for Dry Skin
While you might think dull and dry skin go hand in hand, they can be quite distinct. This routine is aimed at very dry skin, the kind that feels tight and uncomfortable. Start with the Super Facialist Rose Hydrate Calming Creamy Cleanser, a long-time favorite of mine. It’s affordable, smells lovely, and leaves your skin feeling soft.
I recently discovered Sanctuary Spa’s Hyaluronic Wonder Oil Serum. This two-in-one product combines the quenching effects of a hyaluronic serum with the nourishment of an oil. If you find typical serums too lightweight, you’ll love this–a perfect option for those curious about face oils but hesitant because of greasiness.
Finish with Weleda’s Skin Food. This incredibly rich moisturizer provides intense hydration, making it ideal for those who can’t find a cream moisturizing enough. I should note that it leaves a slight greasy sheen, which might be too much for those without very dry skin.
Routine for Relaxation
The last routine is for those who need a bit of a getaway, some peace, and love products that transport them through their scent. It’s like a mini spa experience at home, perfect for the stressed and tired.
It starts with Balance Me’s Cleanse and Smooth Face Balm. I’m thrilled that Sainsbury’s now offers balm cleansers as they add a special touch to any routine. The massaging required to use it not only cleanses but also provides a moment to unwind.
The middle step features Weleda’s Almond Soothing Facial Oil. It’s simple, calming, and suitable for all skin types. This versatile oil can also be used for aromatherapy.
Wrap up with Urban Veda’s Sandalwood + Botanics Soothing Clarifying Night Cream. Guided by Ayurvedic principles, this cream with its grounding sandalwood scent helps you relax. It’s a well-crafted product with a gentle fragrance.
