I planned to share these photos last week, but got caught up in things! Here’s the makeup I wore on New Year’s Day when I went out for dinner at Clos Maggiore in Covent Garden with Mr. AMR, my younger sister, and her newlywed husband.
For my lips, I layered Pixi Lip Blush in ‘Love’ over a bright red lipliner from Le Metier de Beauté. It turned out to be an intense, attention-grabbing red, making me feel a bit like a show-off! The downside was it made my lips really dry after a while. I think it was the combination of lipliner and stain, and in hindsight, I wish I’d put some balm over it. Instead, I ended up playing with my lips a lot and peeling off flakes—so ladylike, right?
Here’s a slightly tipsy me, wearing my new favorite dress and a leopard-print scarf from Jaeger. My hair looked absolutely wild—what was I thinking, letting it down and snapping a photo with that middle part?
For the rest of my makeup that night, I used Jouer Tinted Moisturizer and bronzer, Armani Eyes to Kill shadow, and Avon Supershock eyeliner. My lashes ended up blue because I grabbed blue mascara by mistake—all those tubes look alike!
As for the meal, the set menu at Clos Maggiore was a letdown. My sister’s pork was so smoky it was over the top, and my goat cheese dish was excessively rich and not very pleasant. I’ve had fantastic food there before, so maybe it’s just the set menu that was off.
