Five Must-Have Beauty Essentials from the Supermarket Aisles

Five Must-Have Beauty Essentials from the Supermarket Aisles

I recently attended a delightful beauty dinner hosted by Sainsbury’s, and it reminded me that I was once doing a series on supermarket beauty products. I couldn’t quite recall the series’ name, but it likely included a witty pun or alliteration, such as Supermarket Skincare Savers or Best Buy Beauty for Your Basket. After a quick search, I found that it was called Best Supermarket Beauty Buys. I’ve decided to bring this series back since there are so many fantastic products now available at supermarkets, much more than when I first started.

At the Sainsbury’s dinner, they had creatively transformed their beauty aisles into a restaurant setting, complete with mini shopping baskets as placemats and menus printed on till receipts. It was such a fun and creative experience. I also got the chance to browse the aisles for new product launches, which was a treat since I usually shop at Sainsbury’s.

Here are five top beauty products to pick up on your next grocery run:

1. L’Oreal Telescopic Mascara – Priced at £8.80 from Ocado, this has been a long-time favorite of mine. It features a fine, flexible comb that reaches every lash, offering excellent length and separation. It’s easy to remove and doesn’t flake or smudge on me, although it’s not waterproof. There is a waterproof version available, but I prefer quicker removal.

2. No Knot Co The Gentle Detangler – Available at £15 from Sainsbury’s, this detangling brush is perfect for both wet and dry hair. It’s lightweight, making it great for travel, and it’s easy to clean since it’s made from a single moulded piece. The brush is extremely flexible, comfortable to use, and quickly tackles tangles.

3. Q+A Grapefruit Cleansing Balm – You can find this for £7 at Sainsbury’s. It’s a rich, luxurious cleanser that effectively removes all makeup without leaving a greasy residue. It’s gentle on the skin and has a pleasant, fruity scent. This affordable option is a great alternative to more expensive balms.

4. Altruist SPF50 Face Fluid – This great sun protection product is available at Sainsbury’s and Amazon for £9.15. It’s non-greasy, nearly invisible, and offers high UVA and UVB protection. Developed by a UK skin cancer specialist, it’s perfect if you’re looking for a budget-friendly SPF.

5. Hello Toothpaste in Unicorn Sparkle – Currently £2.50 at Sainsbury’s, this is a fun choice for kids. It has cute packaging and a bubble gum flavor that seems like a treat for little ones. My children love it, and it’s a playful addition to our household.

I hope you’ll enjoy these supermarket beauty finds as much as I do. They’re perfect to grab along with your regular groceries, making shopping both practical and exciting!
