Exploring My Winter 2020 Skincare Ritual

Exploring My Winter 2020 Skincare Ritual

I’ve made some pretty significant changes to my skincare routine since Christmas, so I thought it was time to give you an update. Filming the update video wasn’t easy, mainly because the price tag of the hero product was a bit daunting to discuss. However, I’ve been really impressed with the results from this wonder cream, and I decided it was worth sharing despite the cost. I always want my skincare updates to honestly reflect what I’m using and how these products affect my skin, even if some are outside the usual budget.

You can watch the video to find out what I’ve been using, which includes strong retinol and fewer other active ingredients. If you’re not in the mood for a video, I’ve added proper, professional closed captions to make it easier to follow along, even in situations where you can’t have the sound on. YouTube’s automatic captions can be quite off, so I had someone else do them accurately. Let me know if you find these subtitles more useful than the standard ones.

You can see a list of the products I’ve been using below the video, but I’d encourage you to watch it for the full experience. I’ll also be doing a separate review of the Medik8 retinol product soon because the results deserve more attention and the price is something people will want to talk about.

My Current Skincare Routine

Morning Routine:
– Cleanse with Skinceuticals Cream Cleanser, Bioderma Micellar Water, or Murad Pre-Biotic Cleanser
– Apply Hydrating Serums: Alpha-H Skincare Hyaluronic 8 Serum, La Roche-Posay Hyalu-B Serum, The Inkey List Hyaluronic Acid, or Inkey List Collagen
– Moisturize with The Body Shop Carrot Day Cream, Dr. Sam Bunting Flawless Moisturiser, or La Roche-Posay Toleriane Fluid
– Use SPF: Elizabeth Arden Great 8 SPF35

Evening Routine:
– Cleanse, apply Hydrating Serum, and Moisturize (as above but without SPF)
– Use a balm cleanser like Emma Hardie Moringa Light Gel or Pestle and Mortar Renew Gel

Special PM Treatment:
Every three or four nights, I’m using the Medik8 R-Retinoate Intense. Sometimes, I add a bit of moisturizer afterward, but often I just use it on its own. If you’re interested in incredibly strong retinol without the hefty price, check out Paul’s Choice, which is potent without breaking the bank.

Make sure to start slowly with these products and consider using a moisturizer first as a buffer if you’re cautious. Personally, I apply retinol directly to clean skin once every three nights, but as I increase the frequency, I’ll use a hyaluronic acid serum or a moisturizer beforehand.
