“Beauty Amidst the Meadows”

I recently had one of the best facials of my life right in the middle of a field at a festival. This might be due to the fact that I was there with my kids, desperately needing a break, but mainly it was thanks to the skilled hands of my Weleda facialist.

Initially, I questioned my decision to bring the kids to a festival. Within minutes of arriving, chaos ensued—my two-year-old, Ted, was furious over the wrong socks, while my four-year-old, Angelica, couldn’t stop obsessing over her new sleeping bag. While we wrestled with bags and gear, I wondered how anyone manages festivals with kids.

From what I see on social media, people seem to enjoy festivals with their children. They either thrive in the chaos or are incredibly well-prepared. For me, the constant need to entertain, feed, and soothe my children wipes out any festival enjoyment. Additionally, camping, crowds, and loud noises are definitely not my cup of tea.

ValleyFest, however, was different. Located near Bristol, it felt more like a big, friendly party. They even stopped the loud music by 11 p.m. so parents could rest and had proper toilets, unlike the usual festival ones. Best of all, Weleda offered facials and hand massages, which were a great escape.

My sister and I raced to the Weleda tent to escape the frenzy outside. Inside, it felt calming despite the music pulsing nearby. Megan, the facialist, had an amazing technique that made the session incredibly relaxing. It wasn’t one of those facials with endless products and chatter about their benefits. Instead, it focused on skill and care, with minimal products allowing for a more intimate and soothing experience.

The routine used just a few gentle, lovely products: an almond cleansing lotion, soothing facial oil for massage, and Skin Food for moisturizing. There were also lovely twists like chamomile tea bag eye de-puffers and flannels soaked in Weleda bath milk.

If you’re keen to try this wonderful experience, trained Weleda advisors are available in various locations. If you’re lucky enough to be in Cheshire, you might find Megan. I highly recommend it.

As for ValleyFest, it was clean, friendly, and in a beautiful setting. Still, I’d suggest leaving the kids with someone else. After our facials, my sister and I had to pack up and leave because the kids were overstimulated and our tent was too hot. The trek back to the car was exhausting and slightly embarrassing as we struggled with our gear.

In the end, while the facial was unforgettable, navigating the festival with kids was less than ideal. Consider it a great experience, minus the young ones.
