I’ve been trying out some new luxury lipsticks, and a couple of them are absolutely fantastic. They’re creamy, comfortable, and have incredible color pay-off, staying put really well. Becca’s Ultimate Lipstick Love and Bobbi Brown’s Crushed Liquid Lipsticks are particularly striking. I’ll review the Bobbi Brown ones separately, as they’re quite different from Becca’s – they’re liquids, for starters. The Ultimate Lipstick Love range is quite unique too, so it deserves a spotlight.
Instead of offering every shade imaginable, the Becca range focuses on finding your perfect nude and red, organizing 30 shades by skin undertone. There are six cool, warm, and neutral nudes, as well as the same number for the reds. To find your match, Becca suggests that you’re “cool” if you look best in white, “warm” if cream suits you, and “neutral” if both look good.
When I experimented by choosing shades according to my undertone, it worked like magic. Initially, I gravitated towards cool shades, but they didn’t suit me. Once I switched to warm or neutral ones, the fit was perfect, similar to finding the perfect pair of jeans.
Becca’s shade system is fantastic—making it easy to find the right lipstick, though you’re free to pick any shade you like. Beyond the shades, the texture and finish of Becca’s lipstick are nearly flawless. It’s creamy but doesn’t slip, and it’s moisturizing without bleeding into fine lines. The coverage is vibrant and stays on quite well, though you’ll need to reapply it after meals.
In the photos, I’m wearing my perfect nude (Dune) and red (Poppy) from Becca’s collection. You can see swatches on different skin tones on their website to choose your perfect shade. These lipsticks are priced at £20 each at Cult Beauty, quite reasonable for luxury lipsticks compared to others like Chanel and Tom Ford. While Becca’s might not have the iconic packaging, their quality is exceptional.
