I discovered this amazing coat thanks to Sam Chapman from Pixiwoo, known for having the most striking pieces in her travel wardrobe. Her sister, Nic, is equally talented at spotting great finds. Whether they’re shopping all day or just have a knack for picking out treasures, they both seem to have items that make you instantly curious about where they’re from and when they were bought.
The coat I found is the Duran trench from L.K. Bennett. It’s a sturdy trench coat, almost as warm as a winter coat, but since it’s made of cotton, it’s breathable and perfect for spring. I’ve recently realized how ideal it is for this season. You can casually drape it over your shoulders or leave it unbuttoned when it’s sunny, yet it’s great for chilly weather when buttoned up and belted. I’ve never really been a fan of trench coats until now, but this one is incredibly practical. It’s the right length, with a lovely tailored fit at the back that cinches at the waist nicely without bunching up the fabric.
Apart from looking good, it’s practical, too. Its dark color hides stains and spills, and it pairs well with both casual blue jeans and a dressy skirt and blouse or a dress. Plus, it’s just the right length—above the knee—so it looks great with either flats or heels. You know how some longer coats look terrible with flats, making you feel frumpy, but look perfect with heels? Not this one. The Duran looks great with both.
The Duran is priced at £345 from L.K. Bennett. While it is an investment, it’s timeless and should last for years. It’s also about a third or even a quarter of the price of a Burberry trench, making it a great quality option if you’re budgeting.
