I really enjoyed the Topshop show at London Fashion Week, held in the former oil tanks at the Tate Modern. These tanks, now used for exhibitions, have a bold, industrial vibe, probably because of their history as oil storage. I find the atmosphere a bit eerie, mostly due to my active imagination picturing them filling with oil while the lights flicker and people panic. If you’re in London, you should definitely check them out.
I wanted to share some photos I posted on Triumph’s Instagram. The concrete walls and floors of the tanks were a perfect backdrop for the vibrant colors of the Richard Nicoll AW13 show. I also attended shows by J.W. Anderson and Louise Gray in the same space. The Topshop Showspace was a refreshing change from the crowded cafe and long bathroom lines at Somerset House, where most fashion shows happen. At the Tate Modern, guests were welcomed with champagne, bottled water, and a cafe offering a dynamic menu of free delights like chicken pies, soup, Moroccan couscous, and treacle tarts. It was a relief to escape the cobblestones and photographer-filled crowds at Somerset House.
More fashion week posts will be coming your way soon, but don’t worry—I won’t inundate you with jargon like “cropped-length trousers with color-pop sandals.” Instead, I’ll share observations I think you’ll appreciate. However, I might have to do a post on the Burberry show because I wanted nearly everything on that runway. Usually, I struggle to find pieces from the shows that I’d wear, but those Burberry trenches, heart prints, and pencil skirts were absolutely stunning.
